Rock 'n' Roll Mardi Gras Marathon is looking for volunteers

The inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon and ½ Marathon, in New Orleans on Feb. 28, will have more than 15,000 runners.

And, they need your help. There will be around 3,500 volunteers, who will be stationed throughout the 26.2-mile race.

“Volunteers are really what make these events happen,” said Elizabeth O’Brien, Director of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras. “We depend on each and every one of them to help us give our participants the best possible race experience – which can mean anything from greeting people as they walk in to the Health & Fitness Expo to providing hot coffee to runners on race morning. Each job is just as important as the last and we love to see big groups come out to support the participants.”

Event organizers are still accepting volunteers to fill all 3,500 slots, which will include shifts at the health and fitness expo, start line, finish line, and everything in between. Each race crew volunteer receives a t-shirt, race goodie bag, service hours certification.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras also needs 200-250 medical volunteers to staff 22 medical stations. Physicians, physician assistants, physical therapists, nurses, chiropractors, athletic trainers, massage therapists, exercise scientists, personal trainers, students, residents, fellows and friends are welcome. The medical team will provide rapid assessment of medical needs and administer acute first aid and immediate services to the runners. General volunteers, 14 years of age and older, are also needed to support the trained medical professionals. Each volunteer receives a medical team t-shirt and thank you certificate.
