The campaign’s signature event, the Island Heritage 10th Annual Backyard Jam will be held on Sunday, February 28, 2010, Noon to 5 pm, at Kapi`olani Park Bandstand. Families can spend time together and enjoy a day of music, keiki activities, ono grindz, and learning about healthy choices. This year’s Backyard Jam will showcase bands Kawao and Jahmaka, Ewalani Hula Maids and Na Kane Hula, and other guests. Event sponsors are Madden Corporation, HMSA, and A&B Foundation along with many community partners.
Other activities:
Proclamations Presentations. Lt. Governor Aiona and County Mayors will kick off the month with official proclamations.
The Ola Pono “Live Right” for a Safe and Drug-Free Hawaii Awards. Winners will be announced along with plans for a luncheon ceremony to honor these special people who make a difference in their community.
Library displays, poster contests, rallies, resource fairs, and educational presentations. Activities will be held by schools, businesses, libraries, and community agencies to get the drug-free message out to youth, parents, employees, and others.
